Stop Overfunctioning At Home: Lead The Team You Already Have
Overfunctioning looks like doing for everyone what they could do for themselves. It feels noble. It is also draining and unsustainable.
Lead your home like a team
Weekly Standup: 10 minutes on Sunday. Everyone names their top 3 for the week and the one way they will support someone else.
Roles and Routines: Kids pack their own backpacks. Partner owns school lunches. You own medical and therapy appointments. Rotate monthly where possible.
Visual Scoreboard: One whiteboard for chores and wins. Praise visible effort, not just results.
Guilt, meet truth
Helping your family grow responsibility is love. Carrying everything is not the requirement for being a good mom.
If shifting roles causes friction
That is normal. You are changing a system. Therapy can help you create change without constant conflict.
If you want a home that runs on teamwork rather than silent resentment, book a free consult. I provide virtual therapy across Texas, and coaching globally.
